Melt butter in heavy medium saucepan over medium heat. Add brown sugar, cream and corn syrup.
Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Mix in rum. Cool slightly.
Spoon warm sauce over ice cream and serve.
**note** If you boil this longer than 1 minute, it will get chewy and turn into caramel. Which is good over ice cream. But sticks to your teeth. A lot.
