     Grandma's Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients
1 c raisins
1 c water
1-1/2 c sugar
3/4 c shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2-1/2 c flour
 
1 tsp soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
2 c oatmeal
1/2 c walnuts
Instructions
Simmer the raisins with the water for 5 mn. Drain and and save liquid and add water to reach 1/2 c.
Cream the sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla. Mix the flour, soda, cinnamon and cloves. Add the flour mixture alternately with the raisin water.
Last step is to add the oatmeal, the simmered raisins and 1/2 c walnuts.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 350°
