I believe there are a couple Coffee Can Bread recipes - this one does not tell you to place the mixture in the greased coffee cans and place the covers lightly on the cans. Place cans in warm spot and wait till the dough rises and the covers pop off before placing in oven. Grandma's recipe which we will most likely come across does tell you to do this.
