     Italian Meat Sauce

Ingredients
1/4 c. chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 tbsp. cooking oil
1 lb. ground beef
2 (1 lb.) cans tomatoes
2 (8 oz. ) cans tomato sauce
1 1/2 c. water
2 tbsp. parsley flakes
1 tbsp. sugar
 
1 tsp. salt
1/2 to 1 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 bay leaf

Instructions
Cook onions and garlic in hot oil until tender but not brown. Add meat and brown lightly. Add remaining ingredients and simmer, uncovered, about 2 1/2 hours. Stir occasionally.
