In small sauce pot, over high heat, heat water.
Into boiling water, add sugar and stir until fully
dissolved. Turn off heat. Add orange rind strips and vanilla bean.
Stir well.
Into tea infuser ball or bag, place slightly crushed cardamom and
Star Anise pod/seeds and submerge into syrup mixture. Allow to cool
for 10 minutes.
Remove rinds using slotted spoon, remove vanilla bean and remove tea
infuser and pour syrup into glass container. If using immediately,
chill glass container in an ice bath to cool quickly.
If not using immediately, allow to cool and store
in airtight, covered container. Can be stored in
refrigerator for up to a month.

Use to flavor unsweetened iced tea or add to cocktails made with rum or whiskey.
