Grease a 9x13x2 inch baking pan with shortening.

In medium bowl, stir flour, baking powder, soda and
salt together.
|

In a large bowl use a wooden spoon to beat together
sugar and 1/4 cup shortening till fluffy. Beat in
egg and vanilla till well mixed. Peel apples and
chop. Stir about 1/2 flour mixture into sugar
mixture. Stir in sour cream and the rest of flour
mixture. Stir in apple, spread evenly in pan.

Pour nuts into plastic bag. Close bag and crush nuts.
Mix nuts together with cinnamon and brown sugar.
Sprinkle over coffee cake.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 mins.
