Ingredients
4 cups /500 gms flour
1 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
4 tablespoons/60 gms soft butter
1-1/3/300 ml butterermilk
 

Instructions
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Knead in butter, then add buttermilk gradually, using a fork or the back of a knife to mix the dough until it is soft but not sticky.
Roll out on a floured board to a thickness of about an inch or slightly more.
Cut out circles and bake in a 400-degree f. oven on the top rack for about 15 mins till the scones have risen and are golden-brown.
Cut scones in half. Tip- A small glass, such a sa sherry glass is ideal to cut out the scones.
Serving Suggestions
Serve with whipped cream, creme fraiche or butter and strawberry jam
