In a non stick frying pan that can go in the oven fry sausage till some colour. Remove from pan. Peel and slice onion in thin circles. Melt butter in pan and add onions cooking over moderate heat till onions start to colour. Stir in flour and cook 3 to 4 min. Add sugar. Put sausage back in the pan and pour in stock and beer. Bring to a boil for a min or so. Cover with a lid and place in a 320 degree over for 50 min
