Ingredients
4 cup cake flour (sift before measuring)
5 tbsp. baking powder
1-1/2 tsp. salt
6 egg whites
2-1/2 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1-3/4 cup milk
2 tsp. vanilla
 

Instructions
Sift flour, baking powder and salt 3 times. Beat egg whites until stiff. Add in 1/2 cup sugar and beat till mixed. Set aside.
Cream butter and 2 cups sugar. Add flour alternately with milk. Be sure flour is added first and last, add vanilla and beat. Fold in beaten eggs whites until just mixed.
Bake in two 9 inch pans at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or done with toothpick test.
