Sift flour, baking powder and salt 3 times. Beat
egg whites until stiff. Add in 1/2 cup sugar and
beat till mixed. Set aside.
Cream butter and 2 cups sugar. Add flour
alternately with milk. Be sure flour is added
first and last, add vanilla and beat. Fold in
beaten eggs whites until just mixed.
Bake in two 9 inch pans at 350 degrees for 45
minutes or done with toothpick test.
