Cut stew meat into 1/4-inch strips(it's easier to do if the meat is partially frozen.)
Dip stew meat in flour and fry with onion in small amount of oil until browned. Add beef broth, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and mushrooms. Simmer for at least 1 hour. Add sour cream right before serving. Serve over cooked noodles sprinkled with butter and poppy seeds.
