     Gruene Bohnensalat (Green Bean Salad)

Ingredients
1lb fresh green beans cut into 1 inch pieces
2 small onions
6 slices bacon diced
1/4 c vinegar or more
2 T sugar
1/2 tsp salt
 

Instructions
Cook beans in salted water 15 to 20 minutes or until tender. Drain thoroughly, place in a bowl, keep warm. Slice onions 1/8 inch thick, separate into rings and put into bowl with beans. Fry bacon until crisp. Pour off all but 3 T drippings. Add vinegar, sugar and salt to bacon in skillet, heat to boiling, stirring well. Pour this over beans and onions and toss slightly.
