Beat egg yolks; add sugar and salt. Stir the flour in part of the buttermilk until free from lumps add to the egg and sugar mixture. Add remainder of buttermilk. Fold in very stiffly beaten egg whites and pour into unbaked pie shell. Sprinkle top with cinnamon and nutmeg. If preferred omit spices and add 1 T lemon juice to custard. Bake in moderate oven 350 degrees.
