Burpee's BIG BOY Tomato, picked fresh, washed, dried, and sliced thick
Miracle Whip Salad Dressing, to taste
Salt, to taste
Black Pepper, to taste
Bottled Diet Pepsi, on Ice
Instructions
In the spring, plant Burpee's Big Boy Tomato plants. Water and weed until tomatoes ripen in August.
Pick tomatoes from the garden just before serving. Do not toast the bread. Smear both slices of bread
with Miracle Whip. Slice a tomato to the desired thickness, lay the slices on one slice of bread, and
delicately top with the other slice of bread.
Mom Lennon would plant long rows of Burpee's Big Boy Tomatoes in late spring and the tomatoes
would feed us throughout the summer and long into the winter when she pulled bottles of The Famous
Tomato Juice off the shelf to use in her spaghetti and chili dishes. And no meal or snack was complete
without her Diet Pepsi on ice.
