At sunset, collect lightning bugs in quart jars to use as nightlights; or remove their lights and attach to
fingers, ears, and wrists as jewelry.
Pop corn in the family's famous years-blackened popcorn pan with its shaky handle and its Tom
Lennon-repaired lid.
Hand Grandpa Lennon a bowl of popcorn and a spoon with which to eat it. Plus, a large paper towel to
wipe his lips after each bite.
Wait until Grandma Lennon goes outside to take her evening bath in the outdoor bathtub, over which
hangs the only eave where bees have built their nest.
Once she's settled into the tub, listening to the cicadas sing, call the neighbor boys to come over for
popcorn.
Encourage them to stay late into the night so that by the time they leave, Grandma Lennon is shivering
and looking like a wrinkled prune as she runs back into the house.
And that's on a quiet night when the bees aren't buzzing around her in the tub.
