     Soft Gingersnaps

Ingredients
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
2 1/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon cloves
 
1/4 teaspoon salt
sugar

Instructions
Cream shortening, brown sugar, egg, and molasses. Mix in remaining ingredients except sugar. Cover and chill 1 hour. Heat oven to 375°. Shape dough by rounded balls. Dip tops in sugar. Place balls sugar side up, 3 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until set. Immediately remove from baking sheet. 4 dozen
