     Butterscotch Squares

Ingredients
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 cups brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups flour
2/3 cup chopped nuts
 
Instructions
Mix as for cake. Add nuts. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Trim, but in squares. Dot with icing and put almond on each square.
