     Grandma Schenk's Pie Crust

4 cups flour
1 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
2 t salt
1 T vinegar
1 egg
1/2 c cold water

With pastry blender or fork, mix together the flour, shortening and salt. In a separate bowl, beat the vinegar, egg and water. Combine the 2 mixtures, just until all ingredients are moistened. With hands, mold dough into a ball. Chill at least 15 minutes before rolling it...longer is better. For single crust, bake shell 10-12 min at 450.
