In a lg. bowl add flour and shortening, with a fork or pastry blender, add water a little at a time until you can shape into a ball. Roll out to 1/8 inch thick on a floured board. Use a pizza cutter and cut into strips then squares.
To cook dumplings-
Bring meat broth to a boil, add dumplings, cook for 3-5 min.
