Combine sugar, water Karo syrup and lemon juice in a
saucepan. Heat over medium heat until sugar has dissolved.
Remove from heat and add basil. Let cool for about 10
minutes on stove and then place in freezer for 30 minutes to
chill. Remove basil from mixture and pour into an ice cream
freezer. Follow ice cream instructions.
While ice cream is churning make a simple syrup with the
remaining cup of water and sugar. When sugar has dissolved,
remove from heat and add mint sprigs. Let it steep for 20
minutes or so.
To serve sorbet, pour a little of chilled simple syrup in glass
and add scoops of sorbet. Can top with another tablespoon of
syrup.
The combinationof basil and mint work well together.
