Penuche - Melt butter, stir in brown sugar.
Cook until bubbly. Remove from heat. Add milk. Beat with wooden spoon until smooth. Add sifted powder sugar. Beat by hand. Use immediately.

Butter - Beat butter until fluffy. Add powdered sugar beating well. Slowly add milk and vanilla. Gradually add additional 2-1/2 cups powdered sugar, beating until combined. Add more milk if necessary.

To make chocolate Butter Frosting, reduce powdered sugar to 4 cups and add 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder along with the first 2 cups of powdered sugar.
