Add oil and butter to frying pan over med-low heat
until butter is melted. Add onion and cook until
translucent. Add garlic and stir.
Meanwhile, separately boil bouillon in water until
dissolved and set aside.
Add cabbage to uncovered pan, increase to medium,
and stir frequently until cabbage is wilted and
reduced.
Add chicken broth, and continue stirring
frequently, scraping bottom of pan, until liquid
has evaporated. Add pepper to taste, and optional
crumbled bacon if desired before serving.
