Place sugar, cornstarch, vanilla powder, and salt in saucepan, and
gradually whisk in coconut milk. Bring mixture to a boil over
medium-low heat. Cook 5-10 minutes, or until thickened, whisking
constantly. Turn off heat. Let cool
