CAKE - Preheat oven to 350 and grease a 9x13 pan.
In a medium saucepan heat butter, cocoa powder,
and water.
Heat until butter is melted and ingredient are
well combined.
Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl beat buttermilk, eggs,
baking soda, and vanilla extract together until
well combined.
Pour cocoa mixture into the buttermilk mixture
Slowly to prevent the eggs from cooking.
Set aside.
In a medium mixing bowl mix together sugar,
four and salt.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients
in the large mixing bowl gradually.
Mixture should still look thin.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-
40 minutes.
Let it sit for 20 minutes after baking.
FROSTING -
In a medium saucepan heat butter, cocoa,
instant coffee packet and buttermilk together.
Heat until butter is melted and ingredients are
well combined.
In a large mixing bowl add confectioners sugar
and vanilla.
Pour cocoa mixture into large mixing bowl and
beat until smooth.
It’s going to look too thin but, trust me, it's
supposed to look that way.
Pour the frosting over the still warm cake and
let it cool completely until the frosting has
set. (about 2 hours or however long you can
wait till you dig in!)
