Preheat oven to 325. Sift flour with salt and baking soda.
In separate bowl beat egg until foamy. Add brown sugar
and vanilla, beat well. Stir into flour mixture then add
walnuts. Stir until well combined.
With spatula, spread mixture in well greased 8X8 inch pan.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until top has a dull crust While
still warm, cut into 16 2 inch squares and cool completely
before removing from the pan.
I usually add walnut squares to the plate of holiday cookies
I make each year. They don't look exciting, but they are
delicious! I make an extra batch for Johnny and hopefully
everybody has a Johnny who loves cookies and bars.
