Ingredients
egg whites, beaten with 2 tablespoon water, or 2 whole 2ggs, slightly beaten
8 slices gouda or edam cheese 1/4 to 1/2 inch, rind removed
1 or more cups fine bread crumbs
3 tablespoons fat, preferably bacon (although butter may be used)
 

Instructions
dip the slices of chesse in the egg white, which is delicated, oe the whole eggs, which are robust, and then in the crumbs until they are will covered. fry the slices in the bacon fat, or less trandionally, the butter, until golden on both sides an soft inside.
