     Barbecued Chuck Roast

1 T brown sugar
1 T mustard seeds
1 t oregano
1 t chili powder
1/2 t salt
1/2 t cloves
1/4 c red wine vinegar
1 c catsup
1/2 water
2 T worchestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
3 - 4 lb chuck roast

Put all ingredients except meat in a pan. Simmer 15 minutes. Pour cooled marinade over roast cover refrigerate overnight. Lift roast from marinate an place 6 inches from medium low heated coals Turn over 10 minutes. Baste Takes about 1 hour. To serve, slice across grain. You can also use sirloin tip roast or top round round roast.
