Wash cucumbers and slice thin. Slice onions thin.
Arrange cucumbers and sliced onions in layers in
an earthware crock or bowl. Sprinkle each layer
with salt. Cover and let stand 3 hours.
Drain any juice which has accumulated. Combine
water, vinegar, sugar, celery seed and mustard
seed. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is
dissolved. Boil for 3 minutes.
Add cucumber/onion mixture and bring once more to
a boil, but do not boil.
Pack immediately into hot sterilized jars. Seal at
once.
