     Mack's Apple Pie

Ingredients
2 pack frozen pie crusts
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 tbsp butter
8 Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored and divided into eights
1 egg yolk
 

Instructions
Defrost pie crusts prior to starting on this recipe. Place one crust into a 9-inch glass pie plate and form to plate overlapping the edges.
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Stir in apples with a wooden spoon until thoroughly coated with the mix. Spoon into pastry lined plate. Cut the butter into small pieces and sprinkle over the filling.
Place the remining crust over the top and seal the two crusts together at the edges. Cut random slots in the top crust to allow any steam to ventilate. Brush the egg yolk over the crust. This will result in a golden-brown finish.
Bake the pie in a pre-heated 425 deg oven for 15 minutes, reduce heat to 350 deg. and continue baking for another 30 minutes. Serve warm if desired.
