     John's Simple Marinara Sauce

Category   Sauces
Sub Category   None
Servings   4 - 6
Preptime   15 minutes

Ingredients
1 28 oz can Italian Crushed Tomatoes
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 small red onion, chopped
Olive Oil as required for browning garlic and onion
PINCH, DRIED ITALIAN SEASONINGS
Thyme, Oregano, Marjoram, Basil, Rosmary and Sage

Instructions
Using a 4-inch-deep sauté pan add the olive oil and lightly brown the onion and garlic. Add the crushed tomatoes and seasonings. I use the Italian seasoning mix although I have broken down the ingredients on my list if you wish to pick and choose. Starting with medium heat, simmer, frequently stirring, for 20 to 30 minutes.
While this may appear to be undercooked, the result is a fresh sauce flavor when spread over pasta. In all of my recipes calling for sauce of your choice this in fact is my sauce of choice. Keep in mind that the sauce cooks further when added to another recipe in which case I cook the sauce no longer than 20 minutes.
