Preheat oven to 375 deg. Cook bacon until slightly
cooked, not crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Reserve
drippings.
Trim and wash beans. Bring large pot of water to
boil and add baking soda. Add beans and cook for 3
minutes. Remove from boiling water and place into
a bowl of ice water. Dab beans dry, then toss with
bacon drippings, or olive oil if you don't have
drippings.
Sprinkle with garlic powder and salt and pepper.
Cut each slice of bacon in half so that it will wrap
around approximately 8 green beans. Secure with a
toothpick.
Place on a parchment-lined pan. Combine brown
sugar with 1 Tbl. of water and brush this over
each bundle. Roast 22 minutes or until bacon is
crisp and beans are roasted. NOTE- You can prep
these ahead and bake at the last minute. Also can
be reheated at 375 deg. on parchment paper.
