In large pan mix:
1 lb English walnuts (whole)
1 lb shopped English walnuts
1 lb pecans or more
½ lb black walnuts meats
1 pkg 2 ½ oz slivered almonds
1 ½ pkg (2cups) pitted dates
1 ½ oz pkg pecan pieces
½ pkg seedless raisins
2 lbs mixed candied fruit
1 pkg golden raisins
2 lbs candied red cherries
½ lb candied green cherries
add 1 cup flour and mix. Flour keeps fruit and nuts from sinking to bottom of cake pan. Mix above ingredients with batter Step 1 and etc. Pakc into paper lined pans and make 250 – 45 min, keeps cake from cracking on top. Then finish baking 325 for 1 ½ to 2 hrs, till done. Fruit Cake Glaze: Cool Cake before glazing. A shiny finish for fruit ckae. Not Sticky. Combine and bring just to a rolling boil. ½ cup light (white) corn Karo Syrup, ¼ cup water. Remove from heat. Cool to luke warm. Brush top, sides & inside hollow center. Cool fruit cakes over nite before glazing.
