     Sauerbraten Sauce

Ingredients
3/4 cup wine vinegar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup tomato sauce
1 tsp. salt
1 cup fine bread cumbs
2 dozen crushed ginger snaps
2 bay leaves
1.25 cups raisins
1-3 cups beef or chicken broth (depending on desired consistency)
 

Instructions
Combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
*I omitted the raisins ** This recipe makes a lot...probably enough for 12 servings over spaetzle. Excellent with brats also.
