Sprinkle beef with salt & pepper. Melt 1 tsp. butter over medium high. Add beef, cook 3 1/2 minutes on each side. Remove, keep warm. Melt remaining butter, add mushrooms, shallots and garlic. Saute 3 minutes. Stir in broth and sherry. Combine corn starch and water in small bowl. Stir until smooth. Add cornstarch to mixture, bring to boil. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Serve steak with 1/4 cup of sauce.
