     OLD FASHION POUND CAKE

Ingredients
2 STICKS OF BUTTER
2 1/2 CUPS OF SUGAR
1/2 CUP CRISCO
6 LARGE EGGS
3 CUPS UN-SIFTED CAKE FLOUR
1 TEASPOON SLAT
1 TEASPOON BAKING POWDER
1 TEASPOON VANILLA OR ALMOND (BOB USES JUST ALMOND AND IT IS GREAT)
1 TEASPOON OF LEMON FLAVORING
 
1 CUP OF MILK

Instructions
PLACE BUTTER, CRISCO AND SUGAR IN LARGE MIXING BOWL- ADD EGGS, MIX WELL. ADD BAKNG POWDER AND FLAVORING ADD SALT, THEN MILK,AND FLOUR ALTERNATLY, ADD FLOUR LAST. POUR INTO GREASED TUBE PAN BAKE @ 325 FOR 1 1/2 HOURS. DO NOT COVER CAKE UNTIL COOL WHILE THE CAKE IS COOLING MAKE GLAZE AND SPOON ONTO CAKE.
***GLAZE RECIPE*** VANILLA GLAZE 2 CUPS SIFTED POWDERED SUGAR 1 TABLESPOON BUTTER, SOFTENED 1 TEASPOON VANILLA, ALMOND, OR RUM EXTRACT (BOB USES ALMOND) 2 TO 3 TABLESPOONS MILK IN MEDIUM BOWL, MIX SUGAR AND BUTTER, ADD EXTRACT. GRADUALLY ADD MILK UNTIL DESIRED CONSISTENCY; MIX UNTIL SMOOTH. FOR THINNER CONSISTENCY, ADD ADDTIONAL MILK.
