Boil water; remove from heat.
|

Stir in instant coffee. Add sugar one cup at a time until dissolved. Let stand 4 hours or overnight.

|
|
Pour in vodka. Cut vanilla bean into 5 pieces. Place one piece in each quart bottle. Pour in Kahlua.
|
|
|
Let age at least 40 days.
