In a large saucepan, mix sugar, syrup, and water. Bring covered
mixture to a boil and add butter. Insert candy thermometer and
cook over medium heat until mix reaches 305 degrees.
Add peanuts and remove from heat. Quickly add vanilla extract
and baking soda and beat vigorously for 15 seconds.
Pour mix over large greased cookie sheets. Spread thinly and let
cool.
