Category   Appetizers
Sub Category   None
Servings   4
Preptime   60 min

Ingredients
1 lb. 4oz ground beef/pork mixture
1/2 large onion
1 clove garlic
2 tbsps cooking oil
1/2 loaf bread
1/2 cup water
1 beaten egg
salt (as required)
black pepper (to taste)

2 tsps cooking oil
cooking oil (for coating hands)

Instructions
First, peel the onion. Finely chop the peeled onion. Next peel the garlic. Finely chop the peeled garlic. Heat the 2 tbsps of cooking oil in a frying pan over moderate heat. Saute' the onion and garlic for about 20 minutes over low to moderate heat. Transfer the browned onion and garlic to a dish and leave it to cool.
Pour the 1/2 cup of water into a bowl. Tear the bread bread into pieces and put them in the bowl to soak. Once the bread swells, remove it from the bowl and lightly squeeze out the excess water with your hands.
Put the ground meat and a pinch of salt in a bowl, then use your hands to knead the meat thoroughly. Add the cooled onion and garlic. Add the bread, beaten egg, and some salt and pepper. Knead well with your hands until the mixture holds together. Apply cooking oil to both of your hands and divide the meat mixture into 12 equal-sized patties. Next, lightly toss each meat patty between your hands to release any air trapped inside. Shape the patties into ovals.
Heat the 2 tsps of cooking oil in a frying pan over moderate heat. Add the meat patties and cook them until brown on one side. Turn over the meat patties and continue cooking until they're done all the way through. Press a fork against one of the patties. If the juices run clear, turn the heat off and remove the pan from the stove. Transfer to a pate. READY TO EAT!
