Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie sheet that has deep edges with foil. Layer/spread out saltines on top of the foil. Heat the butter and sugar in a saucepan, stirring frequently. Cook at a low boil until the butter disappears (cream colored and gooey looking). Pour all of the butter/sugar mixture over the crackers. Bake at 350 for 10-15 mins. until golden brown. Pour chocolate chips on top and let sit for 2-3 minutes then spread chocolate with a knife. Cool completely and cut into pieces. Variations- chocolate and butterscotch chips, toffee pieces and chocolate chips and lots of others.
