Brown the ground beef, add onions and garlic and cook until onions are
lightly browned. Remove from pan. Melt the butter in a large skillet
and stir in the flour. Make a light roux by stirring for a few minutes
until mixture is smooth and blended.
Slowly stir in the beef broth and continue cooking and stirring until
gravy is thickened, about 5 to 8 minutes. Add seasoning and stir to mix
well. Add in ground beef mixture. You can add vegetables if you'd like
at this time, ie carrots and peas
pour mixture into 2 qt casserole and then spread the mashed potatoes
evenly over the top. Sprinkle the cheese over the top.
Bake in a 375 oven for 40 - 45 minutes.
