     Jello - Layered Jello

Category   Desserts - Breads
Sub Category   Holiday Dish
Preptime   6 hours

Ingredients
Five, 3 oz pkgs any flavor jello
2 cups milk
1 Cup sugar
2 Envelopes unflavored gelatin
1 pint sour cream
1 tsp vanilla

Instructions
Start making filling first. Boil milk and sugar. Then cool slightly. Dissolve unflavored gelatin in 1/2 cup warm water. Add to cooled milk mixture and cook until bubbly. Cool until cold. (DO NOT LET THIS MIXTURE GEL. Cool just enough that mixture only begins to thicken, approximately 50 minutes. After cooling add sour cream and vanilla and use between layers of jello.
While above milk mixture is cooling, dissolve one pkg. jello in ONE cup of boiling water. Pour into 9 x 13 dish. Chill. This is your first layer. Each layer takes 15-20 minutes to harden. Try to find a flat shelf in your refrigerator so the layers harden evenly.
TIP No.1 - You must keep mixing the filling during the layering process or it will gel. TIP No.2 - As soon as I add on a layer of filling, I immediately mix the next color of jello in a bowl. This allows the jello time to cool slightly so it doesn't attack the last layer of filling.
TIP No.3 - This dish takes a total of 6 hours to make from start to finish. I usually make it the day before the party. Your top layer can be the colored jello, or it can be the filling.
