Melt butter in casserole dish in moderate oven.

Sift together dry ingredients in large mixing bowl; add milk and mix.
|

|
Remove casserole from oven, increase oven temperature to 425 degrees. Pour batter into melted butter, then add fruit. Do not stir!
|
|
|
Bake 25 - 30 minutes, or until crust is golden brown. As cobbler bakes, the batter rises to the top, distributing batter through the fruit.
