1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs

1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
|
|
1/2 t salt
|

1/2 t granted lemon rind
|
|
1/2 t cinnamon
|

1/4 t nutmeg
|

1/2 cup butter, melted
|
|
2 T lemon juice
|
|
6 cups (about 2 pounds) sliced apples
|

1 tub whipped cream or whipped topping
|

1/2 cup cold water
|

Instructions |
|
|
Combine crumbs, sugar, salt, lemon rind and spice.
|
|
|
Add butter and lemon juice, blend well. Sprinkle half crumbs mixture into a buttered 8-inch square pan.
Arrange the apples over the crumbs.

Bake at 400 for about 30 mins, or until crumbs are lightly browned and apples are tender
|
|
|
Add whipped topping to top and serve warm or cold
|
