     Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients
1 cup plus 2 tbsp unsalted butter
7 oz dark chocolate (70% cocoa solids), broken up
2 1/2 oz dried sour cherries (optional)
1 oz chopped nuts (optional)
3/4 cup cocoa powder, sifted
1/2 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
1 tsp baking powder
1 3/4 cup sugar
4 large eggs
 

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line 12 inch rectangular baking pan with wax paper. In large bowl over simmering water, melt butter and chocolate, and mix until smooth. Add cherries and nuts if desired, and stor. In separate bowl, mix together cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and sugar, then add this to the chocolate, cherry, and nut mixture. Stir together well. Beat eggs and mix them in until you have a silky consistency.
Pour brownie batter into baking pan and place in oven for about 25 minutes. Brownies should be slightly springy on the outside but still gooey in the middle. Allow to cool in pan then cut into squares.
