Grandma Rita's Sweet n Sour Meatballs

Category   Appetizers
Sub Category   Holiday Dish
Servings   DK

Ingredients
2 lb. meat (ground)
1 egg
Bread crumbs
1 12 oz. can tomato sauce
1 12 oz. can water
1/2 bottle ketchup
1 bottle Bennett's Chili Sauce
1 onion cut in half
1 Cup brown sugar (or more if you like it sweet)

1 jar plum preserves (more if you like it sweet)

Instructions
Mix sauce ingredients together in large pot, simmer on low flame. Taste test sauce. Add brown sugar and plum preserves to get flavor you like.
In 2nd large pot, fill with water, bring to a boil. Make meatballs with ground meat, egg, and bread crumbs. Don't roll balls too tight (they need to be loose to absorb the sauce). Drop meatballs in boiling water. When they are done, they will rise to the top and float. Scoop from water and drop into sauce (drain using slotted spoon).
Cook meatballs 1 1/2 hrs in sauce. Remove onion before serving.
Serving Suggestions
Serve over white rice, with torn challah, and over noodles. Yummy as appetizer for holidays.
