     Pedernales Cellars Red Wine Chili

Ingredients
6oz hot Italian turkey sausage
2 cups chopped onions
1 cup chopped green pepper
8 cloves garlic minced
1 lb ground sirloin
1 jalapeno, chopped
2 tbls chili powder
2 tbls brown sugar
1 tbls ground cumin
 
3 tbls tomato paste
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp salt
2 bay leaves
1 1/4 cup Pedernales Tempranillo
2 28oz cans whole tomatoes, undrained and coarsely chopped
2 15oz cans kidney beans drained and rinsed well
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions
Heat large dutch oven over medium-high heat. Remove casings from sausage. Add sausage, onion, bell pepper, garlic, ground beef and jalapeno. 19 Cook, stirring to crumble, until sausage and beef are browned (about 8 minutes). Add chili powder, brown sugar, cumin, tomato paste, oregano, pepper, salt and bay leaves. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Stir in wine, tomatoes, and beans. Bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Uncover and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Discard bay leaves. Sprinkle each serving with cheese.
