Mix whipping cream, vanilla, and sugar. Whip until thick but don't let it turn yellow.
Stack one wafer w/ dallop of whipped mixture and spread, then repeat w/ wafer and dallop until you reach 5 stacked wafers. Frost around edges, top and bottom.
Cut cherries in half and dry on paper towel. Top w/ cherries when completely dry or else they will bleed on chipped topping.
