Sort the pinto beans and remove all rocks. Rinse the beans in a colander. Put the beans in a large pot and cover with 3 inches of water. Let them soak overnight.

Remove the water from the beans and put the beans in the crockpot. Add a ham bone, or a couple of slices of bacon. DO NOT ADD SALT YET! Cook on low all day.

When the beans are done, add salt to taste.
|
|
|
We like to use the beans as a main dinner at least one night with some cheese and sour cream on top. We also like to use it on indian fry bread and in burritos.
