Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt together in a heavy saucepan. Add a small amount of
milk and blend together well. Mix in remaining milk. Cook and stir over medium heat
until thickened. Stir in butter and vanilla.
VERY IMPORTANT YOU MUST STIR CONSTANTLY, OTHERWISE PUDDING MAY
BE LUMPY.
