     Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients
2 pounds potatoes (about 6 medium)
1/3 to1/2 cup milk
1/4 soft butter
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
 

Instructions
Wash Potatoes, peel and remove eyes. Heat water to boiling, add potatoes. Cover and heat to boiling cook until tender 30 to 35 minutes for whole potatoes 20 to 25 minutes for cut. Drain.
Mash potatoes until no lumps remain. Add milk in small amounts, beating after each addition. Amount of milk needed to make potatoes smooth and fluffy depends on kind 0f potatoes. Add butter, salt and pepper beat vigorously until potatoes are light and fluffy.
For Garlic Mashed Potatoes add about 4 cloves of garlic when boiling and leave them in as you mash.
