Whisk milk, sugar, cornstarch, and cocoa in a 3-quart saucepan over medium heat until well blended. Bring to a boil.
Remove saucepan from heat. Stir in chocolate. Over low heat, bring mixture to a bil, stirring constantly. Boil for 2 mins. Stir in vanilla.
Spoon pudding into four 6-oz dessert glasses or custard cups. Cover with plastic wrap touching surface of pudding, and refrigerate until chilled, about 3 hours.
Garnish with bananas and strawberries.
